This relief is located in Moravia N.Y.. The mural shows Jethro Wood standing by the his invention the iron cast plow. In 1819 Jethro Woods went to moravia, at the foot of historic montville falls beginning the manufacturing of the first cast iron plow in the world. Jethro Wood a Quaker who lived near poplar ridge in southern Cayuga county, which is marked by a State Historical sign. Here he dreamed of and whittled on his models of an improved plow. In 1814 Jethro Wood took out his first patent and in 1819 manufactured the first iron cast plow in the world in Moravia N.y.. Then later Woods had continual fights in courts since the patent laws conflicted with him and fought about infringements of his patents. Jethro Woods had law suits aganist him and every adverse conditions exhausted woods ample estate and the finally died of poverty as a poor man. page 5 photo of mural then a blown up photo of the plow in the photo of the mural This iron cast plow became a big invention in the agricultural period. At first people where afraid to buy this new iron plow because farmers thought that this plow would poison there land. So Jethro Woods improved the plow and later was meet to the satisfactory of the farmers.
