Art is an expression of culture,
and thus a useful medium to examine the past. Since New York
State is blessed with significant collections of visual art,
this site provides opportunities to connect communities to
New York's cultural resources. It takes a closer look at the
history of New York State by examining chronicled pieces of
art. Teachers and students are participating in projects to
inform and educate one another about the rich historical and
cultural significance in art works of the past.
