Teachers and students are participating in projects to inform and educate one another, employing new interactive technology.
The Dialogue Project This Internet-based system is designed to cultivate and sustain a learning community, and build a "virtual classroom" for students and their instructor(s) to communicate after class sessions. The Living SchoolBook invites you to become an active member of the dialogue project, where the constant exchange of ideas creates a living communication.
SCS Time Machine This is a Skaneatles (NY) Middle School project that focuses on skill development in research, writing, and critical thinking. As Mr. Gary Gerst's 6th graders complete their world history units, they are creating content for a virtual Time Machine.
Interactive Math This site raises questions about constructing grids out of beams, introducing graph theory and "degrees of freedom." The site includes a computer simulation model to serve as an interactive workspace where visitors may become working mathematicians.
Middle School Structures Problem Grant Middle School addresses the NYS 8th grade science curriculum through their Structure and Design unit on Bridge Building. Photographs and student writings explain how two classes learned to design and build bridges that must fit certain structural parameters, and be tested for strength.
Protein Memory Fowler High School presents an interactive CD project covering various disciplines, such as molecular biology, molecular electronics, physics engineering, biology and chemistry. The project explains how protein can become a valuable tool for storing and recalling large amounts of data through the use of lasers. Visit this impressive site and learn more about the amazing capabilities of protein.
