Joseph B. Shedd serves as chair of Teaching and Leadership Programs and associate professor of Educational Leadership in Syracuse University's School of Education. As chair of Teaching and Leadership, he is responsible for the supervision, evaluation, planning and support of twenty-nine undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs, that prepare students for positions as elementary, secondary, special subject and special education teachers, school and school district administrators, professional development specialists, and teacher educators and researchers at the college and university levels.

As a professor of educational leadership, he is responsible for research, teaching, graduate advising and service in all areas of educational administration, with emphasis on organizational change, group decision making, leadership, teacher evaluation, collective bargaining, organizational impacts of instructional technology, and methods of survey research. He is also responsible for teaching the introductory course in the School's undergraduate secondary teacher preparation program.

He received his PhD and MILR in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University, and his BA in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
